What I've learnt.
After researching about indie band websites, I have found out that many of them follow similar conventions. With the format following the stereotypical, heading - image - information style.
Headings always have the band name, usually in large font. And depending on the band, it may be a logo of the band. This enables anyone who goes to the page to know immediately know who they are and it is therefore more memorable. The logo to be memorable is an important aspect of brand image. I have already talked about fonts to use, and I have already decided what font to use, but colour is another thing to think about when creating a brand image. The more indie the band is, colours such as sepia, light pink and light brown is used. As it gives a warm and light feeling rather than black and white which gives a more hard feeling and is often used for indie rock bands. I will be using more black and white colours because the songs Of Monsters And Men sing tend to sing cold, icy songs so a darker feel is important to convey.
Indie websites tend to be very simple looking with rectangles and squares used to layout the page. This gives an easy going feel which is the aim of the genre. Because this time I will be creating a website based on my song crystals, I will use diamond shapes often. It also relates to the icy feeling the band sometimes has and gives a sharp edge to it.
My website will be very simple, like other indie websites, but because I want mine to be slightly artistic, I'll not only be following conventions but inputting my own ideas as well.
