Why do bands and artists have their own websites?
1. To claim your own brand.
Once you claim your brand, no one can copy your brand so you will be know as you and be more independent. Once it becomes a brand, there will also be more attention because brands are perceived as "cool" by many people.
2. To be more commercial, and easier for people around the world to know about the band.
The easiest way to know what's going on around the world is by using the internet. And so band websites are very useful because many people from around the world can know more about them. No matter how far they are, through the website, they will know more about them and gain interest in them.
3. To show tour dates so people will know when and where their shows will be to buy tickets of their own.
Once the fan base grows, there will be more tours for the band. And once again, fans live across the world, so letting everyone know about the tour dates is very important. Even for the band because no once will come to the concert unless they let people know about it.
4. It looks more professional compared to bands who don't have a website.
Having a website will make it look more professional because people will tell that they're official and not just a cheap band. And the more professional they look, the more people will be interested because they will think the band is famous and (once again relating to the brand) people will want to follow them.
5. You can sell merchandise online.
Once you become famous and you grow a fan base, they will be willing to buy merchandise of the band. And online shopping is very popular now, so selling merchandise online is a great idea. Merchandise such as band-Ts, jackets, hats etc.
6. You can have hyperlinks to the band's official social media accounts.
If the band had a few members, the hyperlink could go to their individual facebook / twitter / instagram etc. accounts so people can follow them online. And by doing so, followers will increase and will raise their brand name again.
